This building opened in 1996 and was the work of the well-known Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava.
It is in Santa Cruz, the island's capital, very close to the Auditorium which was also designed by Calatrava.
The building has a surface area of over 40,000 square metres and is outstanding, not just for its original design in concrete, glass and steel, but also for its huge central exhibition space. This completely open plan space of 12,000 square metres could fit 2 football pitches inside it and has held all types of events and activities.
