Pontevedra Museum

The museum’s collections is distributed aorund five different centres:

 

Castro Monteagudo Building (18th century): archaeology collection, pre-Roman and Roman gold artefacts, civil and local gold artefacts (Fernández de Mora collection) and Spanish, Italian and Flemish painting from the 15th centuries.

 

García Flórez Building (18th century), adjoining the previous one: jet artefacts, engravings, religious sculpture, Sargadelos pottery, the office of Admiral Méndez Núñez and a reproduction of the wardrom of the Frigate Numancia, and a traditional Galician kitchen.

 

Fernandez López Building, in the same sqare as the previous ones, houses the halls of 19th and 20th century Spanish painting.

 

Sarmiento Building (Sarmiento, 51), next to the Church of San Bartolomé. This 18th century building is devoted to contemporary Galician painting and temporary exhibitions.

 

Ruins of the Convent of Santo Domingo (Gran Vía de Montero Ríos, s/n) from the 14th and 15th centuries, with arhitectural remains from a variety of origins: Roman and Gothic capitals, sarcophagi, tombstones, etc.

  • García Flórez y Castro Monteagudo Buildings:
    • 1st october-31may: Tuesday–Saturday from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.
    • 1st june-30th september: Tuesday-Saturday from 10.00 a.m. to 2.15 p.m. and from 5.00 p.m. to 8,45 p.m
    • Sunday and holidays from 11.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
    • Monday closed.
  • Sarmiento, Fernández López Buildings and Ruins of the Santo Domingo Monastery: Open to Friday. Consult opening hours. Guided visits in winter, prior appointment.
